Blumm, Blumm, Bobby&Blumm

If you wonder why a heavily bald man needs a comb, check the whole video!

Next to many other things he also does a sweet neat project called Bobby&Blumm. He has also something to do with Dave Grubbs.

Belfi / Grubbs / Pilia

Don´t listen to this stuff until you have enough time, pot or tiredness to be weird or just/even accessible to weird thing!

Here´s also the first song in live audio and picture if you´re more into seeing these things played live (even if it´s only on youtube...). But you can´t miss the second song off of the first link!

If you´re digging it check out more music of David Grubbs at meischbäss, läbelwebbseit (more easy to listen to) or jutiup:

You definitely should know/get to know Grubbs from bands like Gastr del Sol, Bastro or his several collaborations. I don´t know the other weirdos in the title above, so checkem out on your own if you like!

But don´t forget to be relaxed/high/sleepless!

Come visit me and use my bathroom

Sitting on the toilette I read an article in the
GEO magazine from May 1985. It was about an American photographer called James Nachtwey. There´s so much reporting about war (it´s maybe there is so much war), but often you get the feeling that these people try to profit from the pain and suffering of people in "war-like situations". But he wrote something else, he wrote something you can comprehend and what´s human:

"There is war since there is mankind. And the more civilized the people, the more effective, the more cruel their methods of destruction of the fellow men. [...] Since the 8th of May in 1945 there has been not a single day in the world without war, even though nowhere war has been officially declared according to international law. [...] World War 2 has cost 50 million lives and since then at least 35 million people died in warlike conflicts. [My remark: it´s 1985, there has been no Kosovo War, no Rwandan Genocide and no Gongo War ...to name a few]
Why do I photograph the war? Is photography able to do something against a human behaviour that lasts history? You think it´s sheer a ridiculously exaggerated vision. But that´s exactly this vision that drives me to picture war. I see the big chance for photography to awake a sense of humanity. If war is a consequence of the breakdown of communication and understanding, then photography is a kind of understanding and the opposite of war. [...] If every person could see with his own eyes what phosphor does to the face of a child or how a stray shell splinter rips off one leg of the man next to you, then everybody should understand that no conflict in this world justifies to do these things to a person, let alone millions of them.
My biggest problem as a photographer of war is that I could profit from the sorrow of others. This thought follows me every day[...]"

Check out the homepage for his photography!

*UPDATE: Thanks to this guy I got to know that there´s a film about Nachtwey called
War Photographer!

New stuff from Owen

There´s new stuff coming out:
- a new 7inch with two songs
- on facebook he´s writing about currently recording a new full length record!

Yaaaay111
Who knows, maybe we´ll able to see him in Germany someday again...

Btw: you can listen to the title track of the 7inch on the Polyvinyl website!

To match my new haircut, I´m really into the early Beatles again.

There´s no way around to tell you that I adore the songs they wrote about 66/67 when they officially announced lsd and weed as their influences.

H&M clothes get more expensive

At least that could be a possible headline in the near future.

But I don´t wanna say something against the convenience of western consumption. The terrible things hanging together with bad working conditions and child labour are happening so far away that I really don´t have a problem about giving a shit.

Maybe there´ll be a different actual headline like "New H&M line broaches current issues"!

Me in ten years

Is this me in ten years? Wtf? Ya know I´m sayin!

Nice shirt btw!

Perdón, señor?

The funniest thing I saw since Sarah Silverman! It had been a long time since I cried because of laughing so hard:

Boycott it!

After a friend of mine told me this nice line: "Of all wonders of nature that exist in the world, the sky is the most astounding and therefore my favorite, because everybody can enjoy it wherever you are." I came to the decision to stop consuming this mainstream shit!

Join me111 I don´t know why and what for, but it doesn´t matter! Mainstream is always lame, isn´t it? No, seriously...isn´t it?

*Update: There are already the first messages from people all over the world expressing their sympathy! Check out their pics:

Hell, yeah! That looks real fun! I would love to do it, too!
So, if you like to join me, get in touch!

Nelson Mandela

Happy Nelson Mandela Day, peps!

On the occasion of his 92nd (!!) birthday people especially in Joburg celebrate that day in the way that they get involved in a social project or the like for at least 67 minutes (one minute for every year Mandela was politically active).

If I only knew that before... I think it´s a great idea to do so here in Germany! Mandela would definitely be a person to respect and honor for his achievements!

Lol

The Knitting Factory

Must´ve been a great concert, back then in 1996!

The support act: IDAHO:

Click here or here to watch two more songs!

And now: the great LOW:

As well as two more songs!

Btw, if The Knitting Factory sounds familiar to you: yes, THE Knitting Factory! Or to be correct The Knitting Factories - beside the original in Brooklyn, there are nowadays Knits in Hollywood, Reno, Boise, Spokane (wherever that is). You may saw videos of e.g. Joan Of Arc playing in NY.

Happy Dealing

Self-Evident

Maybe I´ve already written about this band but now it´s a current occasion: the new video is very nice and fuck, yeah... the song is awesome! Here it is: Self-Evidents "The Past"!!

Sorry about the whole fucks, yeahs and awesomes! I think I give myself too much american-english vulgar stuff!

It´s better to burn out than to fade away

Joe Cocker managed to do both...

...young fucked up but soo freaking energetic version...
...more current version still fucked up but giving me the chills in a negative way...

They used to call me Anal Girl!

Today I watched a beautiful film called "(500) Days of Summer"! It´s a neat film about...wait I just read a review, a short review about this movie: Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with the girl. Girl not!

Throughout the whole movie I found myself giggling like a girl, though, swooning over the female protagonist. Only had one period where the movie was too cheesy and girl-movie-ish. But it says that "this is not a love story, (but a story about love)". Nuff said!

I like the way the story is told, it´s not simple and straight-line. Just watch it! I also like the pictures and the director doing all this. Usually Marc Webb does music videos, like JEW´s "Work", but this one seems to be his debut!

Sorry, I would´ve really liked to show you a trailer but after seeing the movie all trailers I´ve found are lame!

The soundtrack should be very nice. Nice music thoughout the movie!
Check it out, have fun! Don´t be ashamed to transform into a giggling girl falling in love with even both main protagonist!

Go, Speed Racist, Go!

Lol, check out these funny comic strips called Cyanide and Happiness at Explosm.net!

Yeah, they also do videos!

Kijk en Luister (whatever that means...)

You really need to check out 3VOOR12!! It´s a channel that belongs to the Dutch VPRO! On their website you can find tons of stuff: live concerten, dj-sets, reportages, interviews and so much more. Maybe you already heard of (Behind) Closed Doors - it´s very similiar to La Blogotheques Take-Away Shows.

Unfortunately my Dutch is too bad to understand any of their interviews and stuff...too bad!

That be cat!

If you got an hour or two and really like to get mad, just watch this movie: Bad Boy Bubby! But be warned: it´s a bit disturbing and disgusting (you need to log in to Youtube to see the first part)!
I accendentally found this movie and now I am not sure if this was such a good idea!

Watch the trailer to get a glimpse:

But I also think it´s kinda interesting how the director reflects his perspective on the society. Have fun!

Adult Oriented Rock? Wtf? Is every song about sex?

My music tip for today ...after some beers: FOREIGNER! Listen to it! They´re so heartbreaking, melancholic and kick-ass, sometimes slimy, I know, but that´s ok! I would blame it on the 80´s!!

Weird cultures No.1

Whatte efff? Just read something in an article about people living in a province in Congo, they´re called Mangbetu!

The outstanding thing about them is the shape of their heads:

As an infant you get your head wrapped tightly so that you look like a freaking alien. Ok, it´s not our culture and I think this has something to do with kudos and nobleness. I try to consider that and respect it. But I hardly believe that this procedure doesn´t effect anything going on in your head and brain...

Hot or not?!

Man, I really hate those annoying modern trends ...like mp3 cell phones, computer without porn, meat for toasters and "terrorism".

Where are our good old-fashioned values like vinyl, light bulbs, anorexia and
genocide?

The newest tide that pisses me off - and I think not only me - is oil spills. I mean, ok, they´re not that new (of course invented by the Americans in 1910) but nowadays everyone thinks they need to have more oil spills than others.

Even those unworldly Egyptians who are always behind the times got wind of it!

But let me tell you: IT´S LAAAME!!!
Think of something new! Something novel and inventive, something fancy and haunting! Like diseases through sex, ...bombing other countries for questionable reasons, ...boosting economy through war, ...making the worlds energy supply depending on resources that own just a few and will be exhausted some day, ...weapons that could kill the whole world more than twice, ...being a really powerful man and lie to people big time about the deaths of thousands, ...TV shows documenting rednecks getting pregnant with 16 ...I dunno, man!! I stick to light bulbs and LPs!

*Update: Is it raining oil in Lousiana?

Va te faire enculer, sale fils de pute!

If you don´t have someone who speaks French, just use google translator...

That´s what Anelka seems to have said to Domenech in the halftime of the Equipe Tricolore game against Mexico. Right after this he was fired from the team. WTF?!
The team but then sympathized with Anelka and refused to train.

It seems the team finally gets together in their dislike and boycott against their trainer...and now against their fitness trainer!

Something funny off-topic just right away!

BTW: My tip: Final match with Chile and Paraguay!

Videó beágyazása

You definitely need to check out some things!!

1. The unaired pilot of BIG BANG THEORY:

The blond girl and the dark haired girl are much better in the series than in this pilot! They seem very dislikable to me.

2. The awesome new game of STAR WARS: The Old Republic:

More trailers on their website!

We Have Signal: Earth

Remember Kurt Cobains junkie friend Dylan Carlson? Yes, the guy who bought the shotgun Cobain killed himself with ...or someone else did - I dunno. But that´s another story!

In fact Carlson survived the heroin and meanwhile looking a lil bit up to pretty wasted!
Nevertheless he plays guitar in a quite neat band called Earth - they do very slowcore-ish minimalistic doomy drone metal! Check this out:

I like his thoughts about instrumental music:
"It seems like with vocal songs, it´s like they´re sort of telling you what it´s about [...] it´s narrowing the realm of interpretation that you can inply to the song. [...] Instrumental music, it´s like it allowes the audience to participate more and feed into whatever their thoughts and ideas and what they think the music´s about."

This note goes out to Akzn und Krzl: I found out that two guys of Earth play in this band called Master Musicians of Bukkake.

*Update:
Check out more of We Have Signal on vimeo!

Fuck the world

It seems that the situation is a little bit more complicated than I thought before! I was always a bit sceptic about Global Warming and I thought that e.g. the weather just becomes more extreme - winter colder, summer warmer, etc. But now I think this was just a little bit too easy!

So, let me introduce to you a new term (I never heard of before):
Global Dimming (BBC documentary; German version).

Sorry, about my cynical remark in the title! Don´t get me wrong: I like the world! The world rules!

Unfortunately I can´t think of global climate issues without thinking of George Carlins opinion on saving the planet.

Herzog, Rau, Köhler, ?

Now it´s the question with which Federal President representing our country we would be ashamed the least.
Paranoid-old-fuck? Stammering-old-christian-fuck? Drrivin-drunnnk-christian-fuck? The ugly German 2.0? Lady-dude? Zensursula? Raab?

I don´t know, man! Is there an Ask the Audience lifeline?

Psychonauts!

I think this one is for fans! Enjoy it!

It´s Bernie van Hecke again! Check out more of his Motorpsycho videos of 2010!

Brown. It´s the new green.

Found this at Nerdcore.de and thought I should post it!

chaka chak ...I just another dayyyyyy!

I really love Paul McCartneys bass playing and his sense of melodies - his half-tone-step thing, carried on by guys like Elliott Smith and Andrew Bird.

Found this list of the 100 best guitar players. I´m excited to check it out! Like a good friend of mine would say: Look it you on!

(SPOILER ahead)
...
Woow, Angus Young on 96? This is going to get interesting!
...
What? Robbie Robertson beats David Gilmour? Fuck me! Who did this?

...
Jack White on 17 - are you serious? Of course, he´s a great guitarist but better than May, Perry, Blackmore and Walker? Who´s first place? This fucking Green Day gay guy?

It´s a little bit depressing!

*Update:
Let´s watch something funnier!

Modern jazz stuff

This shit´s pretty awesome! Niiice!
A really - let´s say - contemporary drum sound that I really like, a great percussive upright bass that - I´m sorry - rocks and a real master in jazz guitar! They do great modern jazz stuff, melodic, soft, also energetic and they have brains!
I´m definitely turned on!

The other videos you find of this Italian jazz guy are a lil bit lame. Only this one song is efffing rad!!

Jerry Fuchs

Damn, what a great drummer he was...
Check out Jerry Fuchs of Maserati!

Just one great musician more who tragically died much too early - in this case he tried to get out off a stuck elevator but fell 5 floors. He died in the hospital.
Even though this sounds cliché, he will be missed!

He has 15 kids...

B. B. King - I always though of this guy as a fat fuck sitting all the time playing some old songs that made him popular 100 fucking years ago! But, wait. I think he is... Nonetheless, he was kinda great back then!

Not to confuse with the thin old guy sitting (past perfect progressive should be more adequate) all the time (had been) playing some old songs that made him famous years ago!

"It´s raining luggage and babies and limbs and Daddy doesn´t come home!"

It seems today

that all you see
is violence in movies and sex on tv.
But where are those good ol' fashioned values
on which we used to rely.

Lucky there´s a family guy!
Lucky there´s a man who'll positively can do
all the things that make us
laugh and cry!

He's... a... fam... ´ly guy! Tada dada da!

Oh, yeah! Sick as usuall. You need to watch this episode!

New Premier

Caught between a rock and a hard place? Or better fitting would be the German saying: Choice between pest and cholera?

Maybe not! When you read about this guy you could presume that he won´t be such a dickhead. At least everything better than 'dickhead' would be great for the UK INHO!
But I think I´m being naive right now! ...yes, I believe I am!

*Update:
Now, I got it: a little bit of pest and a little bit of cholera!

BGH about uncoded w-lan

I was really excited about todays court decision in Karlsruhe in a case where this dickhead Moses Pelham and Pelham Power Ppppprrroductions brought a charge of copyright infringement against some poor guy who was verifiable on holidays when someone offered a song which Pelham has copyright of through the unsafed w-lan connection of this poor dude.

FINAL JUDGEMENT: you can´t be prosecuted being someone whose connection was - let´s say- abused.
BUT: you need to encode your w-lan connection and your router (with wpa or wpa2) or you will get admonished or prosecuted!

We´ll see what consequences this decision will have on w-lan networks like Freifunk and Fon; and of course on free w-lan offered in so many places.
I have had a dream...

*Update:
I really need to qoute some dude from the bulletin board of Spiegel Online:
"The decision of the Federal Court is a perversion of the sense of justice! If you were to follow this principle then traders should be admonished all the time because of shoplifting, bus and railway companies should be called to account for fare dodgers! [...] We can well do without such a judiciary!" - Teufelsbraten.

Updating blog

Hey, there! I just updated some settings, now it should be easier for you to comment posts! I also added a last.fm-widget-thingy - it shows songs I´m listening to via...ehmm...last.fm!

I´m planning to change the layout in the near future. Let´s see what´ll happen!

*Update: I already added some things...(silly laughing smiley)

Roosebear

Did you knew that teddybears are called TEDDYbears because of Teddy Roosevelt?

He once was on a hunt but didn´t make it to shoot a bear, so his buddies placed a tied cute little baby bear in front of him! But he was like FU and refused to shoot him! (One of his buddies killed the little cutie with a freaking knife...btw) Soon, people from all over America knew that he was such a pussy and even two russian immigrants made little "Teddy´s bears" for their shop in Brooklyn! And the rest is history...wait, this is the history!

You need to believe

This drum´n´bass church synch shit is soo awesome!! If you haven´t heard of it before check this out really hard!!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Yes, that´s Olli Schulz

This is nothing new, I know! But now that I´m doing this blog I think this should be posted! Check out some other stuff from Karate and Geoff Farina!

There´s also more great stuff from this guy doing these films: MOTORPSYCHO! (already with the "better" new drummer - "better" because he is fucking AWESOME! After two and a half hours of banging and rocking to this band you don´t want them to stop, they do great live shows again!! ...not like these shows with that guy from 35007)

Me and her

There´s a new project of Mike Kinsella alias OWEN.

It´s called THE SHIRT AND SKINS.
To be honest: it´s not a killer ...at least not that killer. Typical Mike Kinsella vocals and some nice electronical sounds, nothing really haunting or new. But nice! Definitely worth checking out and keeping an eye on!

Related things to check out:

Cap´n Jazz
Owls
Joan Of Arc
The One Up Downstairs
American Football

That is so...95!

Don´t ask me how I came - actually corcerning with behaviorism - to this!

Hell, yeah. There are a lot of other "hits" of this time!

It´s really strange that it´s nice to remember songs like these.

P.S.: The song starts at approx. 2:00'.

Today I began with maths! Next days will be tough!

And I just found out how to make inferior and superior (hope these are the right mathematical terms) numbers in Word:
Just mark the number and...

- press 'Ctrl' and '#' simultaneous for an inferior number!

Works great!

Kind of interesting and more important inspiring IMO:

Are we forming children who are only capable of learning what is already known?
Or should we try to develop creative and innovative minds, capable of discovery from preschool age on through life?"

Bands to check out!!

Hell, yeah! This guy´s awesome!

I´ll try to post some music I´m into or I´m discovering from time to time! Let´s start with some bands from last week. And one great band today!

You see that they´re mainly old bands but they influenced many bands that influenced me. Or at least they sound like they could. So I guess I´m just studying history. (There are some bands missing to give sense to my last sentences: Fugazi, Shudder To Think, ahh shit, there are still few bands missing, fuck it)

C.L.A.M.

Yesterday at a party two guys told me about this independent film company called Troma. They do great low-bugdet films with A LOT of blood. Maybe you heard of classic ones like 'Surf Nazis Must Die' or 'Killer Condom'. They distributed a lot of great films - check them out!!

But today I wanna present you new (two years old) stuff: 'Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead'.
Have fun!!

Fucking hell

That there´s actually a town (in Austria) called Fucking is maybe not a new thing to you. But this town has also a brewery making beer. And in Germany we call our 'blond' beer or 'pale ale'...tatatada: 'hell'. So now you can buy a beer called 'FUCKING HELL'! Isn´t that great?

*Update: You can´t find any picture or website. I think this company really misses the big chance to make money. People from all over the world would order a beer online that´s called 'Fucking hell'!

*Update: There´s no online presence because they´ll sell it from August´10 on! So it´s not too late for them.

Fuck these EU dictators

I think we all are glad that Berlin changed its mind about child pornography content in Teh Internet from blocking the access to deleting the content. Even if Köhler signed this law and the coalition distanced itself from it.
But what the heck is going on now? The EU now wants to force its member states to block the access to these sites. Now this shit´s starting again!
Of course there´s a better but more uncomfortable way to fight these abhorrend acts.
If I would be naive I would dig their requests for "tougher action over child pornography websites".

From Merkel with love

Because I can´t think of another time this seems to be the first time that I like Merkels viewpoint:

"If Germany has international schools in other countries, e.g. in Turkey, (...), of course it can be that Turkey has schools in Germany."
"Yet this should not lead to an excuse for Turks living in Germany not to learn the German language." - Merkel.

I like her thoughts about partake and integration of Turks in Germany, but I thinks she´s telling things like for years and actions are still...let´s say sparse.
I also like her open but definite attitude about the EU accession of Turkey. To make it short: Erdogan is a dick!

Beautiful live music videos - MUST SEE!

Couple of months ago I found this website called La Blogotheque. They do really great video podcasts - The Take-Away Shows - where they invite bands and artists to play at sometimes beautiful sometimes strange places.

Like Sufjan Stevens on a rooftop.
Or Jose Gonzalez on truck bed of a pick-up.
Or Architecture in Helsinki!
Check out more of these!!

But today looking for live videos on arte.tv I found this mellow and beautiful jewelry. Didn´t know that Arte is cooperation with Blogotheque.
Great stuff, anyway!

Meds worth 1 Euro cost 696,70 Euro

I´m really curious if Philipp Rösler gets somewhere with his recent efforts!
I mean, a good example for the horrendous and elusive pricing policy of the pharmacy is a cancer medicament called Taxol of these bastards: The company pays 1 Euro for the agent and sells one infusion for 696,70 Euro! WTF is real understatement!

Freud, yes Sigmund Freud, the old Schlomo! You guys really need to check out some freud stuff.

Sorry, I´m too lazy for the moment to quote or link some stuff. Feel free to google stuff up. Maybe I will update something.

*Update: Ok, now I´ve found not just a decent but a great course about Freuds psychoanalatic views at Yale! It´s funny, vivid and didactical superb worked up IMHO! Have fun!

*Update: If you can comprehend this great summary you´ll know what Freuds psychoanalysis is all about:

"The idea of man in psychoanalysis and its perception of the origin of psychogenic diseases:
Freud argued that the human soul in its complex variety of functions
aimed at balancing different and sometimes even conflicting emotional motives. Freud believed that psychogenic disorders were statements of mental conflicts that the psyche could not balance in a normal way.
When emotional conflicts, that can´t be balanced by the soul, only occur for a short time, so-called 'blunders in everyday behavior' can emerge.
In cases of solidified intrapsychic tensions certain parts of the personality have become incompatible with other. Psychogenic disorders are considered by Freud as a form of failed self-heeling attempts of the mind to reduce unbearable tension states. In this regard typical actions of the soul can be the lack of realizing and making aware of certain ideas or emotions (for example, using the repression) in connection with the execution of certain tension lowering replacement activities (e.g. in the form of avoidance/inhibitions and compulsions)."
